First things first…just start sharing! There are many ways to share, but the most important thing is to not overthink it. Put a class on the calendar, meet a friend for coffee, plan some social media posts and go for it! We are cheering you on!

Instagram and Facebook are amazing tools for connecting with your community! Ideally use your personal platforms because your community is likely already there, you don’t have to start a new platform just for oils (you definitely can if you want to, but most people find it isn’t as productive or sustainable).

Incorporate what you love about YL into your daily posting about your life and other interests. You can host a simple Facebook class (either an event or go live!). Use Instagram stories for sharing how you’re using oils in your day. Consistency in posting, sharing about oils and inviting friends to get their YL account set up is key.

To learn how to connect with others effectively, take the DWC Social Media Crash Course (coming soon!).

We also offer so many sharing tools, pre-made Instagram stories, scripts, etc. exclusively for our DWC members. Check them all out here.

Gather together with friends in your home, backyard, or in a public space (like a coffee shop, venue, church, etc). This can be a small group, or a large group, whatever your style! You can also host a booth at your local craft fair.
.
One fun way to connect with people is to host regular workshops or “Make and Takes”, where you invite friends to create essential oil DIYs together! You can charge a small fee like $10 to cover supplies so they get to take home what they created. Add on a mini EO 101 class at the end to offer people a chance to get their YL account set up (you can even refund them their class fee as an incentive to get their PSK that day!). We recommend bringing your computer to make it easy to help them get their accounts set up.

We have lists of creative class ideas in the Hangout!

You can also join the Grow group for lots of creative ideas and inspiration for growing your biz.

You don’t have to host big events, you can set up a coffee date with a friend or two to share about oils! You can bring a few oils to show them or even the whole kit to give them the rundown (like a mini class). Personally help them to decide what they want, to get their account set up and join our group.
.
If you can’t meet up in person, try a Zoom, Skype or Marco Polo class! Always personally invite people to your meet ups and follow up with them in a private message or text.
.
Other ideas: Invite mom friends over for a playdate with their kiddos and share how you’ve been using oils with your family. Have a few oils with you or give her a roller (maybe with Stress Away or sleep oils!) as a gift. Let her know you can help her with whatever she needs (right then and there if she’s ready!).
.
Tip: have a “flip kit” on hand for locals! Details on what that is here.

When you’re sharing about Young Living, we suggest always sharing about the value of the Premium Starter Kit. It’s by far the best value and a perfect way for most people to get started. Most importantly, listen to their needs and help them to get what will serve them best. When your friends use your referral link (see below for how to get your link!), they also get them access to our private Facebook groups where they will be provided tons of support, education, and resources for learning about essential oils and more. Community and education is a valuable resource for members!
If people sign up as retail: they not only are unable to buy a starter kit, but they are paying 24% more on anything they buy. It really doesn’t serve anyone well to pay retail. Not to mention they will be missing out on all of the free membership perks, our team resources, Essential Rewards and the compensation plan.
.
To ensure your friends get the best of the best for their family, a Premium Starter Kit is the way to go. Let them know they get 24% off of retail on anything they need going forward too, and there are never any membership fees and never any required auto-shipments. Their account will be active forever, as long as they spend just 50PV in a year (they don’t have to do so unless they want to remain active).
.
HELPFUL TIP: If they want to get a free oil and 10% in product credits for on their starter kit, have them check the box to set up Essential Rewards as they sign up! They can cancel it later if they want to, setting it up with the starter kit doesn’t cost them anything extra until the next month when their order ships. ER is optional, but a great way to affordably replace toxins over time!
Here is how to get your referral link to share about Young Living with friends:
1. Go here: https://yl.pe/ and enter your member number into both the sponsor and enroller fields to generate a short referral link!
2. Test your referral link in a browser. The Young Living order page should populate with YOUR member # in it in the Enroller/Sponsor fields. Verify that the member number is yours.
3. Save your link somewhere you can access it easily! Put it in a note in your phone, on your compute, or even print your member number on cards to make it easy to sign people up with you!
Super easy. Just give them your link, then they get to join our groups!
When you have a potential sign up, you can either give them your referral link directly and help them sign up, OR if you can send them to a simple page with instructions. e offer pretty pages to our members if you want a handy landing page with instructions for how to order! Ask for one by commenting here.

Here’s how to get paid:

You can get $50 every time someone gets a Young Living premium starter kit with your referral link. From the moment you sign up, you can share your link. You could even get your kit “paid for” before it arrives at your doorstep by sharing with three friends! Plus, every time someone uses your referral link to become a member, you can add them to The Dwell Well Collective (Facebook page) and we’ll teach them all the ropes!

All you have to do to receive those unlimited referral bonuses is to have ordered a minimum of 50PV (usually =$50) from Young Living during that calendar month. You also earn 25% in fast start bonuses during their first 3 months! After 3 months, you earn commissions on their purcahses so long as you have spend 100pv in the same month. Learn more about commissions here.

*Note that Young Living has recently allowed members to sign up their spouses, meaning each spouse can have a separate Young Living account. This can save you a LOT of money, and also can be amazing for your business!

***BONUS*** WATCH this awesome video from one of our RCD leaders Alyssa Francis about the Art of the Close!
You never have to offer ANY deal on the starter kit if you don’t want to (the kit is a crazy good value already) but if you’re ever inspired to offer any discounts as limited time incentives to encourage people to take the leap, this is an option for you. They must be valued at $25 or less.
.
You can offer additional unlimited “resources” to new sign ups, such as books or free classes, but we are not permitted to specify which resources up front if they are non-compliant. For example, we often give the Oily Life Guide as a gift, and since it’s written compliantly (not discussing symptoms, cures, etc), we can post that publicly in addition to the $25 value of any incentive.
.
However, while the Reference Guide for Essential Oils app by Abundant Health is a GREAT resource, since the information in the app talks specifically about cures and diseases you can treat with oils, so we are NOT able to promote it as an incentive to sign up.
.
You may send your members ANY books or resources after they are already enrolled.
.
If you’d like to, you can also offer simple welcome packets to mail new members.
.
We encourage everyone to let your friends know that one of the resources you offer for FREE is the DWC community, you can invite your members to our private Facebook groups for education and support. Learn more about what to do when you enroll someone
here.
Young Living allows you the option to offer up to $25 back in cash or product value as an incentive on premium starter kit purchases. The $25 comes from you personally (we usually just send cash backs through PayPal!), but remember that you’ll get $50 the following month as your bonus from the sign up.
.
You could offer a “free roller set” for everyone who grabs a premium starter kit with your link this weekend. As long as the roller set is $25 or less, you’re good!
.
We have found offering periodic limited time deals to be really effective (try one-day only deals, or this week only, or holiday deals, or offering a deal for people who just need a little extra push).
.
You can offer to send the $25 back through PayPal or through a bank check once your member has received their kit.
.
Or, you can can boost your own OGV by ordering products for incentives/deals (we are allowed to offer $25 or less in products).

Sharing vs Selling. It’s not uncommon for people to be turned off by someone in a network marketing company because it feels pushy or salesy. Think about why YOU bought your kit. Was it SOLD to you? Or had you observed their enthusiasm and personal stories as you were introduced to these amazing oils?

Here in the DWC we encourage everyone to just be natural and share their stories, let your community know about products you love, and offer them tips for how to use them.
.
Our goal is genuinely to help people and to get these oils into as many homes as possible because we KNOW what they can do. We are not in the business of SELLING kits. We are helping people to get a Young Living account so they can get what they need now and be able to order on their own whenever they want to!

From our genuine passion comes the desire to be confident as we share far and wide.

Here are some thoughts on how to share in an authentic and non-salesy way. I hope that this helps you as you share!

1. Avoid salesy words. You know the type.

-Order TODAY!

-Ask me how!

-BUY FROM ME!

-Join my team!

-You are NOT going to want to miss this!

-SALE SALE SALE!

Basically, if you can hear it being said in a used car commercial, avoid saying it. When writing, use the same language you would use if you were to speak with a friend (practice saying what you want to write OUT LOUD when in doubt about how to communicate it).

You can totally tell if someone is giving info just to make a sale or if they’re truly loving something. Take Oatly oat milk as an example. I CANNOT STOP talking about this. I tell everyone near and far about it. Everyone who knows me know that I am obsessed with it and all my friends have tried it because of my rave reviews. I don’t make a penny off of those sales (unfortunately!). I just TRULY love it. So, think about how you would share about something if there were NO money to be made, and do that.

You can share products even if you haven’t tried it yet: “Trying ________ (Super B ) today. They say it ____________ (gives you crazy energy). Here it goes, down the hatch! I’ll report back on how we feel about it.”

“I’ve tried all the plant-based cleaners out there and NOTHING compares to Thieves Household Cleaner. It works better, cleans more things, and smells like Christmas. I’m a total fangirl. Here’s a few ways I use it (write out or demonstrate what you do!)”

2. Be personal!

We have some AMAZING photos, graphics, and stories on the PixieSet for everyone to use. dwellwellcollective.pixieset.com (password DWC2020)

They’re fine to use them, but be sure to balance between using our images and using your own personal photos. For example, a photo of YOUR kitchen where you’re shining your sink with orange essential oil. Even if it’s not a perfect photo, that’s okay! It shows that YOU are truly using these oils, and people want to trust you and connect with you. They want to know how YOU are using the oils!

Better yet, show yourself in your home using your products. Instagram stories are the best for that!

Be creative. Be original. Be funny if you want to. Be YOU!

When someone scrolls through their feed and sees that 47 people have shared the SAME graphic and SAME wording about a product, does it look like those people really love the product, or that they copied and pasted a post that they thought would make them money? Speak from YOUR heart about YOUR love of essential oils! The more REAL, the better!

Hint: you have to be actually USING the products to do this effectively!

Example: (pic of laundry piled high in the laundry room) “Y’all, I am tackling Laundry Mountain today. And my homeboy Purification is going to help me! Stinky boy socks are the WORST. Can I get an amen? 😉

3. Avoid over posting!

A great rule of thumb to avoid “over posting” (especially on a personal feed) is to post 1 oils-related post for every 4 personal posts. If you want to post more about oils, start posting more about your cute kiddos, your dog, your newest hobby, articles that interest you, etc.

On that same note, don’t be afraid to share ESPECIALLY on your personal social media. If you’re not sharing, nobody knows they can get these oils from you. Someone else will share Young Living with your friends and family if you don’t. Think of how grateful you are to the person who shared YL with you, and be that person for others! And remember, YOUR members will be watching you too so you want them to see that you still love oils!

What to post about? Check out this list of social media prompts that might help

4. Don’t post graphics on your feed.

It comes across as salesy and not genuine. I don’t post graphics about Oat milk so I also don’t post graphics about oils.

Disclaimer: You *may* want to occasionally use graphics if you have a business page or Instagram that exist for the purpose of talking oils. People followed you there for oils. We are mostly talking about personal social media here, although I wouldn’t overdo it anywhere.

5. Deliver value!

Sharing instead of selling is about giving away knowledge you have about something FOR FREE! Maybe a fascinating tidbit of information, a recipe, something fun you’ve recently learned…make people say “wow! I had no idea.” Give them this value with no expectation of receiving (very important!).

Also, share this way about your ENTIRE wellness journey–not just oils! If you start using cloth diapers, or get a new water filter or Instant Pot, maybe you have kicked a bad habit–WHATEVER it is, share about it. That helps people to see you are on a genuine wellness journey and you’re sharing things that you truly believe in. This will give your oil posts that much more credibility!

6. Avoid putting a referral link directly in a public post.

This says “I don’t actually want to have a relationship with you, just go here and buy something so that I make money.” We’re the exact opposite of that! We want to hold their hand from start to finish and make sure they feel like a loved part of the Dwell Well Collective.
.
We can make you a “pretty page” from the DWC that you can link to in your social profile. You do want people to know they can get oils from you (you don’t want them to end up googling Thieves cleaner because you weren’t clear how to get it!!) so this makes it easier for those who want to check it out on their own, if they want to.
.
When you share about oils and want to make sure they realize they can get them through you, you can add something helpful but non-salesy like “I’m here if you have questions” “there are details on how to get this in my profile” or “If you want to grab this kit, let me know so I can walk you through it and make sure you get what you need at the best deal.” or “I can give you my referral link so you can get the best deal.” Keep it easy breezy!
.
Follow up is key! Be sure to send them a personal message when they express interest. Talk about what the oils have done for you, ask what they’re hoping they can do for them, and then when they ask, give them your link and walk them through the order process. They will be so appreciative that you’re making the journey less intimidating than they thought it would be!

7. Speaking of referral links…

that is what we like to call it around here! Not a “SIGN-UP LINK”. That sounds like a commitment and might be more intimating than it actually is. They aren’t really “signing-up” for anything. Just using a friend’s referral link to purchase what they wanted.

8. Simplicity can sometimes be key!

Example of how to share more often and in super simple ways: “In my favorite diffuser today: Stress Away. Need I say more?”
